JULIAN TROIANO - ON HIS WAY UP

Julian Troiano has a legacy to live up to – and that can be tough – but he has his sights set on a career in music and he has the talent to back it up.

His uncle, Domenic Troiano, was a friend to many of the members of Lighthouse, who all came of age in that great explosion of Canadian music in the '70s. After Dom's untimely death in 2005, his family, spearheaded by Julian's father Frank, set up the Domenic Troiano Guitar Scholarship Fund. I saw Julian perform at the first fundraiser in 2006. Toronto talent came out in force but it was 15 year old Julian who blew them all away.

"I've been singing since I was a baby," he says. That's evident from his easy naturalness onstage but Julian knows that raw talent isn't all you need to reach your goals. He's always looking for new ways to hone his skills and last summer went to Los Angeles to study a vocal technique called Speech Level Singing. He's continued these studies in Toronto with Ryan Luchuck. He's developing his writing abilities as well and is working with a producer and vocal coach to write new material.

Julian performs regularly and you can see him this Sunday January 17th at the Chick 'n' Deli in Toronto as the special guest of Robbie Lane. There's history here, as one of Dom's first gigs was with Robbie Lane and the Disciples. Julian will take the stage between 6:45 and 7:00.

The Chick ' n' Deli is located at 744 Mt. Pleasant Rd. 416-489-7931

I saw Julian perform at the Festival of Lights in Richmond Hill and that was the first time. He was amazing and I was blown away by his talent. I went up and asked him if he would perform at the school I teach at in Scarborough = I hope he still will. It was my privilege to hear him live because in the future, I believe sincerely I will have to pay big bucks and stand in line overnight. V.K.

Hi Valerie,
Thanks for writing. I'll make sure Julian sees it. It's very exciting to discover someone with talent. And I went to your website. Nice work. You can notify me about exhibitions if you like. I'm an artist as well (medium photography) though I haven't had too much time to devote to my work lately. Have a CONTACT show in May so I'll start working on it after the Lighthouse show Feb 13.

I liked the attitude of Julian Troiano! If we want to build up a career in music or in anything this is what matters the most. Set your goal, do hard work and plus, if you have an attitude, you will definitely reach there! Even fate can’t defeat you.

Julian Troiano, the upcoming sensation of music is trying to prove the point that not just his legacy made him a singer but he is capable like his father and grandfather who were sensations of their periods. The singing style of Julian is really great and I am sure that Julian will also become a legend like his predecessors.

I have a long-standing relationship with Lighthouse. I'm married to Paul so I was around for the very first rehearsal (in our garage!!); I'm a song-writer & have collaborated with Paul on some LH songs (Never Say Goodbye, Fly My Airplane & Lonely Places); I'm a writer & producer and have been involved in that capacity on various LH projects (One Fine Weekend, The Best of Lighthouse/Sunny Days Again, Song of the Ages, 40 Years of Sunny Days and a new project we're just getting off the ground - One Fine Story); I've been exhibiting extensively as a fine art photographer since 2005 (www.brendahoffert.com) and have taken most of the new shots of the band that are on the site; I've been the band's manager since LH reunited in 1992.  Though I was just going to do it for a while it became an addiction 'cause most of all - I'm Lighthouse's biggest fan!!
