Skip Prokop                      previous      next

Picture
Skip Prokop’s ability to conceptualize a sound and structure a group around it has always made him more than just a great rock drummer. He had his first international success with The Paupers in the early sixties and after they disbanded he was in great demand as a studio session musician with such groups as Peter, Paul and Mary, Carlos Santana and Janis Joplin.

Skip’s energetic drumming has always been the heart of the band, driving it with finesse, power and musicality, but perhaps his greatest contribution to LIGHTHOUSE has been as a songwriter. It was such hits as One Fine Morning, Sunny Days, Pretty Lady, and 1849, with their fresh melodies and sensitive lyrics, that have kept LIGHTHOUSE on the airwaves for two decades.

Skip has involved himself in various areas of the communications industry as both a creator and a producer. He has composed music for film, television and commercials, has produced several albums and has been a dedicated organizer of charitable events. He has been creating music with his son Jamie for their band Mercy Train and is also producing and performing on a smooth jazz album.
