My wife and I were at the Stockey Centre gig last night and as usual thoroughly enjoyed the show. The vocal harmonies were spot on and the dynamics were there all night. I like the way you can bring the band from a quiet whisper up to a rockin` climax and back down again in the same song. I also like the way you, as lead singer, put your own stamp on the tunes but can still evoke the sound of Bob Mcbride in the old songs. We didn`t do the meet and greet this year as there was a lot of other folks who wanted to meet you guys, a classy act by the way, more bands should do this. We`ll be looking forward to future gigs. I see you have one tonight in North Bay. Break a leg and keep rockin`.

My wife and I attended your concert in North Bay, Sat. the 27th.... It was FANTASTIC !!!! I have seen big names in Vegas, but you beat them hands down. I closed my eyes and could not tell if I was listening to you live or a CD. I remember seeing you in Sault Ste. Marie many years ago. Thanks for the memories and many more years ! SW

Hey Fellas, I had a freekin awesome time last night in North Bay. You guys rocked the house and took us on a wicked musical adventure. Hope you come back and keep rockin for many years.

Thank you for this site! Unfortunately, I didn't find any info about former members of the group. Believe me, it means something to us - we don't know even if they are alive or not (though I constantly hear that Keith Jollimore, Don DiNovo and some others are dead). Seems to me, that wasn't a bad idea - to give some biographical info about group members. Cheers, Jerzy.

I saw lighthouse on at the capitol center on march 26 2011 and very good concert. Lots of compassion in all the members. My mum & me got to meet the band upstairs during the intermission and again after the show. I got all 9 members autograph. My mum & me are personally friends with the saxophone player Steve Kennedy. Hope lighthouse comes back to north bay sometime soon. Lots of love for lighthouse

Lighthouse has always been a insiration for me as a drummer since i was 12. My friend Dave Campbell & I would set up two drum sets in his basement & see who could copy Skip's super fast rolls & still be in time. We had a small P.A system with a turntable plugged in to it. We played to every track till all the L.p's had fallen to the turntable. Most memorable !!! Thanks so much Lighthouse for being our mentors. Saw you back in the early '70's performing at Ontario place and then at Toronto City Hall's Nathan Phillips square. Everytime I hear One Fine Morning, it brings back memories of some great concerts and fine Canadian talent.
Jennifer Mackay

Love the group, been listening to them from the start, first saw them opening for the Byrds in Kingston (original 13 man group) right up to the last time they played at the Grand theatre, Oct. 2010. Also loved the Paupers. The recent dvd is fantastic for both video and outstanding 5.1 sound. Thanks for all the great music over the years.

My Wife and I had the great pleasure of enjoying your concert at Brock University Thursday February 24, 2011, we had front row seats so we felt the entire impact of your music. EXCELLENT EXCELLENT!! Brought back many memories. I recall back in 1971 you played the local circuit at local high schools. Most importantly is that you continue with your music !!! Great Work.. keep it going !!

02/24/2011
Attended your FABULOUS concert last night at the Rose Theatre in Brampton, ON. Have been a fan since the early 70's, but the music provided last night showcased how every member of the band is an accomplished musician in their own right as well. Skip, your gracious introduction of each member, plus the opportunity for everyone to be highlighted during the evening was an absolute delight. Best wishes for many more 'Sunny Days' and years of making outstanding music together! Thanks for the great comments about the Rose Theatre. We Bramptonians are extremely proud of this great venue, and very lucky to have it in our own backyard.
Heidi Wilker

02/24/2011
Fantastic concert at The Rose in Brampton last night. Amazing sound, great mix of music thrown in with a few wonderful stories by Skip. I do remember when you played at Brampton Centennial Secondary School in the early 70s. You were rockin' then and you are still rockin' now!

It still gives me a thrill to hear Lighthouse on the radio. The first time I saw the band was at Richview Collegiate in Etobicoke in 1970. Shortly after that I joined Magic Bus and helped put on the summer concerts. The next time Lighthouse played for us I ended drinking 5 Star back stage with the horn section. Those were some great times, and definitely sunny days. Hope to meat up with the band again. All the best,
Hugh Tomkinson

02/19/2011
The Belleville gig last night was awesome — consummate, immaculate performances by all and pure joy for the audience to experience. Skip, Paul, Ralph, Dan and the whole band are an inspiration, each artist so accomplished, experienced and masterful in what they bring. The catalogue and repertoire over 40+ years is just unbelievable and Lighthouse still stands among the best live bands anywhere, anytime. The big, lush, rich layered sound doesn't rely on sampling or autotune — just a lot of REALLY good musicians playing together in a wonderful respectful, collaborative and endlessly creative way, loving what they do and loving to share it with the appreciative audience. Thanks guys, for so many years of so much great music — and still bringin' it with love.
Rob Ludlow

My wife and I attended your concert last night(2011-02-17) in Kitchener, Ontario. Wow-very impressive, tight, clean, timeless and very personal from the solos given. Whats disappointing is your Catalog in the CD format is very difficult to get hold of. In the future will you sell your catalog from your web site? Gentlemen, thank-you and hope to see you again and again.
Nick Guastadisegni

02/18/2011
I was at the Centre in the Square show. It was fabulous, the band sounded just great, and Paul's vibe solo, well quite simply, the best technical (tasty too) I have ever witnessed. Thanks guys, keep on Rockin'

02/18/2011
I was at your show in Kitchener at centre in the square with my son and nephew and we were blown away. What a spectacular performance. I was singing along and rocking in my seat throughout the entire show. The highlight for me was meeting you all at the end of the show and chatting. What a thrill it was to have you autograph old photos I have had since I was 15 which I received from a fan club. A special thanks to Skip for signing a drumstick he had thrown out in the crowd at a 1973 concert which my sister caught. I'm also very grateful to Dan for sharing a very special story with me about Bob McBride who I had a huge crush on when I was 15. It was a very emotional moment for me and I will always cherish it. Sincerely,
Bonny, Cory and Phil Raymondo

Really enjoyed your show at the Cenre In The Square in Kitchener on February 17th. You guys were really rocking.Great sound in a great venue! It was also nice to chat with some of you following the show. I will definitely be out to another show! Do you ever play some of the songs you did back in the late 60's and early 70's like Eight Miles High and a couple of Chicago tunes you occasionally played? Would love to hear those. All the best. Continued success and good health.

Hi Guys, it is nice to see all the old pics of the band that are on this site. I miss my dad very much and it is sad what happened in his life. There are a couple of promo shots and I am wondering who has them as I would love copies for memories' sake? All the best to you and I hope to catch a show at some point. Is that paper with "One Fine Morning" written on it my dad's handwriting? It looks like it, quite messy lol. Cheers,

I'm 54 and remember back when we were 15-16 listening to your albums over and over. Over the last years I searched everywhere for live dvd's or video's of Lighthouse without any luck until I was given Live at Q Music Studios. Had water in my eyes watching it, brought back a lot of good memories. Sure wish you guys would come play a gig at the new Casino here in Moncton, New Brunswick. Please continue playing forever, your music not only sounds good but also feels good. Thanks again for the memories and best wishes,

I am so disappointed - have just found out tickets are sold out at Brock U. in St. Catharines - my hometown. Any ideas on how we may obtain tickets? Can't wait to go down memory lane again! I love Pretty Lady and Skip's voice is awsome.

01/19/2011
I met Skip at the Music Festival in Burlington this year. Spoke with him as I was so pleased the band was playing that nite. He actually dedicated this song to my friend and I. He lives in the same town as my sister. It was such a great show and I hear they are playing here at Brock U. in February. Great music from the 70's. They're fantasitic.
Liz Goldsmith

01/19/2011
I started to listen to my Lighthouse CD's again. I forgot how great they were. Any information about what they are doing today would be great. My favourite Album was the Live One from New York.By far their best. Thanks.

01/15/2011
I'm somewhat confused because the promotional photo for the band Lighthouse that is playing the Center In The Square on their website shows five guys in their early 20s? Is this the wrong photo the people used, or is this a reformed Lighthouse of younger musicians playing original Lighthouse songs???? Please clear up my confusion. Thank you.
Peter Black
BTW - there was a problem on this web site -  they had the wrong picture - Thanks to Peter it has been fixed!!

My husband and I live in Cambridge and we are attending the Feb. 17th show at the Centre in the Square in Kitchener . We wanted to meet the band and were willing to pay extra for the meet and greet but were told that that could only happen through the promoter . We are both huge fans and are looking forward to hearing back from you.

12/30/2010
I forget what I had, I guess the LP that contained "One Fine Morinng", a killer song, love those horns! But when I found it on CD, from 1996, it sounded like someone remixed/remastered it ; it sounds awful and empty! Would like to know if a CD exists that has the original mix! Thanks and Happy New Year!! John - USA

Congrats to Skip on his Lifetime Achievement Award. First heard Skip play in drum & bugle corps during a Labour Day parade in Hamilton. I was carrying the lead flag for our Scout troop right behind. Sure enjoyed that march. Heard Skip play with many fine musicians, especially Lighthouse. Thanks for joining Crowbar at Massey Hall for the live album. Loved his Valecrest smooth jazz album, too. Too many tributes to list. Looking forward to that biography. As Ronnie Hawkins always advised, "Keep rockin"

12/09/2010
I was at the Carnegie hall concert, and also saw Lighthouse at My Father's Place in Roslyn Long Island NY. We had the pleasure of sitting at the bar with them after the show. Never as big as Chicago in the US, but just as good,if not better. I'm glad they still play in Canada. I just wish the garbage in the commercial music industry would die off and free music return. Keep the internet free from government control or we all will LOSE everything we cherish and love.
James Rosen

12/08/2010
My wife and I have been fortunate enough to see Lighthouse 3 times in the last couple of years. Once again, at the Historic Regent Theatre in Oshawa, you didn't dissappoint. Of the bands that we've seen recently, like America, 3 Dog Night, Moody Blues, to name a few - none of these bands were as talented, or have the vocals, or the sound of Lighthouse. You keep getting better! Thanks once again, and please come back again soon.
John K.
12/02/2010
Just went through the old photos, man oh man, it was cool to see the band in younger days,So when is Lighthouse coming to New Brunswick?

11/24/2010
I've always been a fan of your music. Had no choice as a kid but to listen to Lighthouse as I am the youngest brother of Bob and Carolyn Childs. Skip I think you may still remember them, as a young boy you shared a duplex with them in Hamilton. When I first started playing music my mother would not let me learn the drums because of the many hours she listened to you practice. Glad to hear your coming to Kitchener in Feb. going to asked the girlfriend if she would like to go to the show. Sincerely

Rod Childs

Im on my way to see you guys at the Regent in Oshawa this weekend can"t wait to hear you guys again live.

11/21/2010
I haven't seen Lighthouse since the early 70s, when my friends and I would travel from Niagara to just about any concert within 2 hours to see them. What a treat my wife and I had, when we attended the concert last Thursday at Mohawk College. These guys are great. Every member of the current band is so talented individually, but as a group, just outstanding. My wife and I are musicians ourselves and were very impressed with many aspects of Lighthouse; the vocals harmonies, the arrangements, the solos, and of course Dan Clancey covering the lead vocals. We can't wait to see and hear them again. Please keep us posted of upcoming events. Thanks-
Bob and Nancy Secord
11/21/2010

You guys are incredible. One Fine Morning on old GRT vinyl is great, listen to it all the time. Great to see you boys playing 1849 what an epic track and mood. Hope to see you in Oshawa in November. Do you boys have any archive live footage when Bob McBride was still in the band? My aunt talked to him shortly before he passed and he told her the story of how he was hurt during the break in and what not while trying to get clean. A sad tale of course, but his vocals tear through the ages. Cheers!
JT

10/27/2010
You guys played at our school dances 70's hope to see you playing at our schools 50th anniversary party at LeParc, Markham. A lot of memories for a lot of people back then, this would certainly be the highlight you have a lot of fans from Bayview Secondary School, and they are coming back Nov 6th to celebrate from all over the world. Man, this would top it all seeing you play live again at such a time in all our lives.

Attended your concert last night at the Grand Theatre in Kingston. It was great to reminise while listening to the old Lighthouse favourites. My first experience with dating happened in Toronto at the CNE. It so happens I me a girl who was working at the Vic Tanny's booth at the Better Living Building and we hit it off. We decided to attend your free concert at the bandshell. It has been so long ago that I cant even remember the year... You guys are sounding even better... I bought your CD and spent half the night listening ... Cheers Gary

As a high school project for theatre arts in Toronto, I interviewed Skip along with a hot young girl. Skip seemed more interested in her than any questions we had. Looking back, I can't sau as I blame him...she was HOT!

10/15/2010
Nice to see you guys are still at it. Don't know if you'll remember me, but my mom and dad, Paula and Sam Younghans were pretty good friends with the band, and dad and I hitchhiked from Manhattan to Atlantic City for the Pop Festival, 1969. I was only 6 or 7, but remember bits and pieces. I remember dad sending me back to your hotel with one of the crew, and telling me to find a place to sleep, which I did. I think I took either Pinky's or Paul's bed and he ended up sleeping in another room. A lot of time has passed since then, but it'd be cool if any of this struck a memory. I have a few.

Just finished watching your 40 Years of Sunny Days DVD and just wanted to tell you that you guys sure do rock on! You sound as fantastic as you did when I was 8 years old. I'm almost 50 years old now and am enjoying re-creating your music (as best we can) with my own band. Your songs bring so much joy and fun to our band, and so many wonderful memories to me personally! I am hearing rumors that you are coming to Nova Scotia. I really hope that's true!

I don't know if I have already done this Brenda, was on the Lighthouse FB page and saw your post from June about getting lyrics. And for the life of me I can't remember if I saw that post back in June and went on here, but in case I didn't, I would LOVE to get lyrics. Thanks Brenda Jan

Wow! I was at your concert in Barrie yesterday and it was awesome! Especially during "Pretty Lady" which ranks as one of my all time favourite songs of any group. I missed your last few appearances here and I wasn't going to miss this one. A special thanks to Skip. What can I say? I love that song. PS I finally did meet my pretty lady but she isn't into seventies music like I am so she wasn't there.
Sean Sudol

08/01/2010
Hey Skip! It's Michele from Sarnia. U wrote me a letter about my son drumming when he was 9. U told him to keep it up and learn his rudiments. He is now 19 and out playing bars and events for money. Hope u can see him play one day.

URGENT: PLEASE TELL SKIP's WIFE "TRACY" whom I was sitting with in Barrie on July31st that I am sorry I couldn't stay after the show and have her friend stay at my home, my friends grabbed me after the concert and I had to leave immediately. I didn't want Tracy to think I was being rude, and leave without a goodbye or explanation. Anyway loved the concert and hope we can get together as planned next time your all in town...tell Tracy to email me! Thanks and great seeing you all!

I am happy to see that you continue touring. I saw the band many times when I lived in Orangeville, just north west of T.O. and Skip Prokop was the cousin of a guy I played ball with. Now many years later, I'm on the west coast and would love to catch the show sometime. I would welcome being on the mail list as I travel throughout the west on business and would gladly arrange to be where ever 'One Fine Morning' wafts through the air!!! Keep going!

I saw Lighthouse at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio during the tour for the "live" album. Later my high school marching band, also from Marietta, played the Canadian Exhibition in Toronto and several members attend the Lighthouse show there that was Skip's last show at the time. I'd love to have lyrics for 1849 and Pretty Lady if possible. Thanks

Hi, Just 'sittin' in my rockin' chair' checking Lighthouse out on Youtube and recalling the great show you put on at Brock University in the summer of '73. Fantastic. What a thrill. And all that GBX equipment. Bought GBX black tapewound strings for my Fender Precision Bass I was so inspired. Loved wearing out your albums and learning your songs. Still listening and hope to get around to one of your gigs in the near future. Thanks.

Ravin Holloway

06/26/2010
I have always loved Lighthouse, and am especially in awe of Bob McBride's voice. What depth, timbre, range, richness. Of course, it sounds even better supported by the stunning harmonies of Lighthouse, the superb mix of horns and strings, and the high quality of song writing. Never mind the hooks! I'm still impressed. The music sounds as bright and relevant today as it did in the 70s. Thank you!
Linda Burnside

Been a fan of the band since 1973 when Can You Feel It came out. As a matter of fact it was Mr. Cole who got myself interested in playing guitar. Just recently my wife and i had the chance of seeing you guys kick it out of the park at the Burlington Sound of Music Festival. What an awesome show. It's nice to see you guys playing with such fire. Bought the C.D./DVD. 40 Years of Sunny Days and listened to it on the drive home. Great package you guys put together. Anyways i may be sounding to much like a fanboy, just keep on playing for another 40 years God willing. Cheers.
Al Maxwell

I have been a fan of the bands forever. I treasure the memories of Lighthouse playing at the highschools in Burlington Ontario in 1972-73. Your songs are such classics and sound as good today as they did back then. Loving the newer songs just as much too.

You guys have a fan in Kinston, NC-USA. Grew up listening to Zappa and Steely Dan, but Lighthouse is the real deal. Friend of mine in college(East Carolina Univ.) actually had a copy of "One Fine Morning" and I got completely turned on. I forgot about it for a long time until a local radio station played it awhile back on its 70's show. Now I'm rediscovering Lighthouse all over again. Any chance you guys might play in NC?

It's great that you got a site! And for whom it may concern (for example, me) - I've heard that some of your band are dead yet. In the list were the names of Don Dinovo, Keith Kollimore, Al Wilmot, Freddy Stone, maybe some more, maybe the list is wrong. Anyway, that's very sad. May you give a biographical notes of them? Thanks, George.

Missed the concert..Huge and I mean Huge Lighthouse fan..I even have your RCA records. And believe it or not. Your RCA hits; which I found interesting that any song that dealt with peace and love was kept off that album..Interesting.. But I love the new album and video attached with Great Package.. Would love to see since Paul and Brenda at one time Managed Bob McBride..it would be nice to see a package done with his songs.. After looking at the lighthouse sight I see there are a lot of Bob McBride fans out there.. There is a story that lighthouse should tell. I fany parent needed a reason to keep there kids off of drugs that's it..he had the world by it's tail and threw it all away. keep up the great work..

Hi there, I just want to thank you guys so much for the years of music you have given. We Canadians are so very proud of you guys, and all you have done to export your music, and our country around the world. Being a musician, and now a music retailer, I know first hand how tough it is dealing with personalities in bands. And like your butt...everybody has one. Thanks for keeping it all together and making the beautiful music you do. Loved your show in Belleville last year, and we all hope you are back soon. Take care my friends and God Bless you all!

A beautiful spring weekend in Upstate New York after another long cold winter. Saturday a small package from Canada arrived and the weekend became even brighter. We loved horns back in high school and any band that used them - particularly in a rock and roll context - was an immediate favorite. And Lighthouse was always at the top of the play list. Great pop writing, jazz sensibilities, strings married to rock rhythms...and horns. Of all the vinyl I have been unwilling to let go, those albums are still lovingly cared for - and occasionally played instead of the CDs and MP3s that can never quite replace them. So, while it seems insufficient...thanks. I'm listening right now for the third time straight through. I've watched the DVD twice. And for a few pleasant hours it has been 1975 and 1976 all over again. My buddies who went the unfortunate way of Bob McBride aren't really lost and I am 17 again. The world is full of sunny days and endless possibility...and horns. Wonderful bright brassy horns punctuating a soundtrack that I will always be grateful I found and shared and can still appreciate.
Frank Caliva

First saw the band in Halifax in 2006, I beleave. They were great and I got my younger wife turned onto a great live concert that night. It was iffy at first because she wasn't a big horns fan. When the Hoff started tickling the vibes, she just fell for the band. She later said it was the best concert she ever attended. We've both been wanting to see them again. Glynn & Caroline

A huge THANK-YOU to the band and organizers! The show was fantastic! Lighthouse, as musicians and entertainers, were as "tight" as ever! I guess 40 years of practice helps! My daughter (19) who attended with me has liked a number of Lighthouse songs over the years (she has to put up with her Dad's music preferences now and then!), but now she says ALL Lighthouse songs are on her fav's list! Well done!

02/25/2010
love "Can You Feel It" and "Live" albums. Especially, all songs in "Can You~" repeating on my mind endlessly. I know Flower Traveling Band in Japan owes a lot to Lighthouse for their recording and concert appearances in early 1970's in Canada after they get a hook with Lighthouse when they went to Japan Expo in 1970. I will listen to "Can You~" again this weekend. Everytime I drive on 402 to 401 to Tronto from metro Detroit, I can't help but remembering my Lighthouse. My Lighthouse forever.

Hello Lighthouse, Back in the 1972-73 Hockey Season, Lighthouse sponsored our Pee Wee Hockey Team in Mississauga, ON. We were proudly known as Sunny Days Lighthouse. Thanks again to Skip for coming out to most of our Games, getting to know us kids, being in our Team Photo, giving us an Autographed Sunny Days Album for Christmas and avidly cheering us on to Win the Championship that season. For 13 year old kids who were just discovering the great big world, Lighthouse helped inspire our love of music. It was great hearing "Our Teams Song" Sunny Days on the radio especially during the summer of 1973. Even today I can only imagine what it was like for you guys to hear "Your Hit Song" on the Radio here in Canada as well as across the air waves wherever you traveled. Good Luck and Congratulations on Your 40 Years. Well Done! Thanks Again,
Wayne Banon

My wife, Joan, and I attended the 40th Anniversary show last Saturday at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. This was our first Lighthouse concert - although we've been listening to their music since the band first formed. Great show!!! Great vocals (including harmonies) and sensational instrumentalists. Wow, just like fine wine!! Thanks to the Band for a memorable night!

My wife and I attended the concert on Feb. 13 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. For me it was the 7th time I have seen the Band. Thanks for all the years of entertainment. I sincerely hope the day will come when the Lighthouse albums (incluging the the first 3)are released on CD. I look forward to the 8th concert.

Saw the show at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Saturday night. What a fantastic sound still after 40 years!!! I was there with Skip's "family members" from way back, Donna and Muriel Stewart and Doug Guy. We had a great time and wish the band every success in the future. Keep rockin' on Lighthouse!!!!!

Hey Guys. I have been a Lighthouse fan from the beginning even when Skip had the Paupers going. I have seen you in so many venues I can't keep track. But let me tell you, on Saturday evening at the Better Living theatre in Toronto, you guys were tighter than ever and Dan your pipes were so on. Fine China as an example. Congrats on your 40th and keep it going.

God I miss your concerts. Saw Lighthouse many times in the 60's & 70's. I just heard an ad for a concert at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on the day when i was heading to work. Damn! Saw you last night at the Queen Elizabeth. Brought my 11 year old daughter who plays (are you ready?) sax, clarinet, piano, and bass guitar and was so totally turned on listening to the soprano sax last night that she's planning to pick that up in Grade 7 next year. You played at my high school in 19.. don't want to say exactly when...Mr. Armin was my clarinet teacher at Burnhamthorpe Collegiate and his 2 sons were in the band. My daughter is totally turned on to One Fine Morning and she downloaded the song this morning. Thanks for a great night, the show was spectacular, the music still moves me inside and you have a new fan! Will follow you from place to place now! Regards,
Vicki & Shannon Brookes

02/14/2010
The 40th Anniversary concert was great. Great band, great sound, great venue. After the concert last night this makes the 10th Lighthouse performance I have attended. Just like wine, the band seems to get better with age. Can't wait for the next concert in the area. Maybe they can come back to Hamilton one more time. PS CD and DVD set worth every penny.
Harry Olivieri

02/14/2010
We saw the 40th anniversary concert in Toronto last night. No words can describe how great of a time we had. While we have always loved Lighthouse's music from the get go, we have only attended concerts in the past 10 or so years ago (about the time of the release of the Song of Ages album). It is really nice to see Dan Clancy mature into his role with the band. The new DVD is great, just as Skip promised.

I had not been to a concert in a very long time, when I heard that Lighthouse was going to be at the EA Rawlinson Center, I got a couple of buddies together and bought tickets. We were not dissappointed. It was a great show. We all agreed that it had been too long and we should do it again. Next time I'll be there! thanks for playing the small venue. We all appreciated it.
